In some ways, I am already finished with 2021 📷

Currently reading: Creatures of Passage by Morowa Yejidé 📚

Finished reading: Actress by Anne Enright 📚Possibly an unreliable narrator. I actually like when I’m not sure whether I can trust the story teller. An excellent book about some of the bad things that happened in the 50s, 60s and 70s.

Finished reading: The Reason I Jump: The Inner Voice of a Thirteen-Year-Old Boy with Autism by Naoki Higashida 📚I don’t have much to say. It was quite “preachy” but also had some interesting insights.

I didn’t need a compass to find this bear down by our mailboxes two years ago

I like the way the “leaves” rotate around the pinecone

For ethereal, I am choosing this photo of a poem hanging from a tree. It’s from an ephemeral art installation we made to honor our god-mother.

I’m starting to think about teaching again. This article makes a lot of sense to me and I will change my grading practices, even though this is aimed at K-12 and I teach grad students. 🏫

For hygge, I give you me and my cousin this past June. We hadn’t seen each other in two years. We were at our Aunt’s home, getting ready to have a superb meal with lots of family favorite dishes.

Finished Reading Saigon by Sam Hawken 📚I really enjoyed it. I don’t love suspense or violence and this story had manageable, interesting, levels of both. I cared about the characters. More importantly, I cared about Vietnam. A few typos but nothing that took away from the story.

A bridge, or perhaps a highway overpass. My last time on a train, heading south to DC, sometime the summer before COVID.
